My Jesus and Those in Need

In one of my Seminary Classes we had to do an assignment called a Kingdom Project. We were supposed to find a place where we could serve in the name of Jesus. My group chose to go to a park in Lexington to spend time with the homeless folks that gather there in the evenings. Mainly we just went to spend time listening, encouraging and praying, but we also brought some clothes, toiletries, food and water.

Tonight we had to give a presentation to the rest of the class about our project. At the end of the presentation we played this video because it so poignantly reminds us of the focus of Jesus’ life, ministry, and teaching.

That’s a great assignment. It would be interesting to see also, what the students are capable of doing with the local children in the community. I also see a great need for more support of small churches as well that are near by. Many, Many hungry people there too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and what you got from the lesson that touched your spirit.

Danielle, thanks for stopping by. Some groups did in fact work with children, both within a local congregation context and in para-church ministries contexts. I dont think any group from our class worked with a local congregation, but I know that many Asbury students are actively involved in the small churches around here.
